Sacred Meadow Circle Virtual Gathering Discussion Summary:
Thank you to those who were able to attend the Sacred Meadow Circle Virtual Gathering with the suggested topic of discussion about the Difference Between Witchcraft and Wicca.
The group discussed the differences between witchcraft and Wicca, explaining that witchcraft is the practice of magick, while Wicca is the religion that guides that practice. The example used was comparing witchcraft to cooking in which Wicca would be the recipe being followed. It was also explained that the various realms of witchcraft, such as green witchcraft, hedge witchcraft, psychic or astro witchcraft, and song witchcraft, etc. each with its own unique focus and practices.

Experiences as a hedge witch and green witch within the group were shared, emphasizing the importance of working with spirits, ancestors, and deities as well as with herbs, plants and aspects of nature. The conversation also touched on the different branches of Wicca, such as Gardnerian Wicca, Alexandrian Wicca and Diana Wicca, Seax Wicca, etc. and the concept of the threefold law in witchcraft and how some Wiccan traditions have found their way to become implemented into general witchcraft ritual (such as casting a circle, for example).
We started a discussion on the degree system in some Wiccan traditions, with Bryan explaining the progression from learning to practicing to teaching within the SMC. We emphasized the importance of understanding the practices and traditions of Wicca or of a coven before joining.

The potential danger-feelings were highlighted in certain rituals, such as the binding and blindfolding of initiates, etc. and the importance of consent in practices. The example used was Blood magick. Bryan also explained the significance of the letter "K" in the word "magick" and its distinction from stage magic.
We discussed the concept of moon bathing and moon water, explaining that the moon's influence can be felt even on cloudy days. Experience was also shared with damaging crystals during spell working and plans for gardening and self-love baths, respectively. Bryan warned about the dangers of using certain crystals in water and the importance of being aware of one's surroundings during spiritual practices. The group also shared their experiences with accidental fires and burns caused by their spiritual tools and shared personal experiences and stories.
