Sacred Meadow Circle Virtual Gathering Discussion Summary:

Thank you to those who were able to attend the Sacred Meadow Circle Virtual Gathering with the suggested topic of discussion about Making Wands.

The group discussed self-made wands, and participants were encouraged to share their own experiences. A participant showed two wands she purchased, including an English ivy wand made under a full moon. Another participant described making a simple wand from a rose stem and using a selenite wand for Reiki. Bryan explained that wands are personal tools used to direct energy in rituals and spells, and discussed how different types of wood can have various magickal associations.

The group also touched on the importance of feeling connected to the materials used in wand-making. We also talked about the history and creation of wands in magical practices. Bryan explained that wands can be as simple as a found stick or plant stem, or more elaborate handcrafted objects. He emphasized the importance of intention and personal connection when creating or choosing a wand. Several examples were showcased of self made wands made from different materials like witch hazel, buckthorn, lilac and apple wood, each with unique properties and associations.

We also discusses the use of crystals and metals incorporated into wand-making like copper to enhance energy. It was advised on proper care of wands and crystals, and explains that wands are tools for mostly focusing and directing energy in spellwork and rituals, but are not necessary for everyone's practice.

The group discussed further the importance of creating personal associations when making magical tools like wands and brooms, and others.. It was explained that using materials with personal significance strengthens the connection to the magick performed. A participant expressed interest in making her own broom, and Bryan suggested connecting with all the ingredients used, including wood, straw, or herbs like mugwort for the bristles. He then showed examples of decorative and functional brooms and besoms, mentioning that some witches even use their own hair or animal hair to create highly personalized magickal tools.

The conversation concludes with a particpant suggesting the possibility of spinning cat hair into yarn for magical purposes.
