Sacred Meadow Circle Virtual Gathering Discussion Summary:

Thank you to those who were able to attend the Sacred Meadow Circle Virtual Gathering with the suggested topic of discussion about Meditation

The group discussed meditation practices, with Bryan providing an overview of meditation's goals and benefits, including mental clarity, emotional balance, and stress reduction. Experiences with virtual Buddhist and Quaker meditation groups were shared, discussing their effectiveness despite being online and members being so distant from one another. We then mentioned experiences with sound bath meditation and virtual energetic healing.

The discussion highlighted the potential of group meditation, even in virtual formats, to create a shared sense of presence and connection.  Various forms of meditation and mindfulness practices were discussed, including movement meditation, body scanning, and using music or mantras to achieve a meditative state. It was explained how meditation can help increase positive emotions and reduce negative ones,  The example with mindfulness training for nurses at SickKids Hospital was shared. The discussion concluded with advice on how to start meditating, suggesting that beginners should begin with short sessions and gradually increase their duration, with techniques like counting backwards from 100 to help train or maintain focus.

It was emphasized that meditation consistency is more important than duration, and it was suggested that using an anchor to maintain focus, such as focusing on breathing. The discussion concluded with the group attempting a short 2-minute silent meditation exercise. After the meditation, participants shared their experiences, with some finding it challenging due to distractions or noise.

Bryan emphasized that meditation is a personal and intuitive practice, and different methods work for different people. He also discussed the use of candles in meditation and magick, highlighting the importance of personal intention over traditional associations. The session concluded with Bryan encouraging participants to explore meditation further and find what works best for them.
