Thank you to those who were able to attend the Sacred Meadow Circle Virtual Gathering with the suggested topic of discussion about Challenges facing witches.

The group shared personal experiences with witchcraft, including challenges faced by witches and the importance of self-expression, while the group explored how different astrological signs experience the moon's energy.

The conversation then shifted to the challenges faced by Wiccan communities, particularly during the pandemic, and concluded with discussions about discreet witchcraft practices.  The focus was particularly on environments where witchcraft was not accepted, such as in Christian households. It was discussed that witches face challenges, including discrimination, and can even lead to loss of relationships, jobs, and well-being.  We discussed the importance of self-expression and empowerment as emphasized.

It was also explained how witchcraft can be practiced in ways that align with other religious practices, using analogies like comparing a witch's ladder to a rosary, and how certain holidays and special occasions can overlap between traditions. Caution was advised when performing spells for others, highlighting the need for clear intentions and consent, and the significance of the threefold law in some witchcraft practices was highlighted.  

The conversation touched on the definition of a witch as someone who practices witchcraft, involving intention and symbolic expression of intention. The group also discussed how cultural differences and personal circumstances can affect how people practice witchcraft, with some feeling the need to practice discreetly due to societal pressures or living situations.  Bryan shared his personal journey of embracing witchcraft and the challenges he faced in accepting and practicing it openly. We discussed the importance of self-acceptance and the need to prioritize one's own needs and beliefs, even if they differ from those around them.

The conversation included the concept of portable altars, sharing examples of discreet practices and tools for creating sacred spaces. He demonstrated a portable altar box with crystals for each direction, emphasizing the importance of multi-purpose items and creative concealment.

The conversation also touched on practicing witchcraft discreetly in public spaces, using natural elements and household items.  It was also highlighted that the double standards and misconceptions surrounding witchcraft and other spiritual practices, and emphasized the value of practicing discreetly while still honouring one's beliefs.

The group discussed the importance of finding acceptance and understanding from others, even when their beliefs may differ, and the need to maintain integrity in one's spiritual practices.
